Replete with natural resources including extended forest area, pioneer tourist spot of Satakosia sanctuary, coal mines ,numerous large scale industries ,cultural landmarks like BudhiThakurani temple and SailaShreekshetra, Angul District has become the numero uno in Odisha and likewise this college located in the heart of Angul Town, the industrial capital of the state enjoys the pride and glory of being the premier institute of higher education in the district, standing on a spacious campus beside N.H-55 with an atmosphere conducive for learning, it has been catering to the educational needs of the district to the optimum.
The institution fondly cherishes the memories of the untiring, selfless and ungrudging efforts of late Adwait Prasad Singh and late Anil Bihari Das during the 1979 to establish it and since then it has been steadily marching ahead with head aloft. The further nourishment provided by late Prafulla Kumar Mishra can't be thrown in to oblivion also. Inaugurated on 13.09.1979 as an Intermediate Arts College with a feeble strength of only four, subsequently introduction of +3 Arts,+2 Science and +3 Science in the year 1986,1992 and 2003 respectively, at present it enjoys the status of being the only aided composite college of its kind in Angul with about 1500 students on the roll with teaching facilities in 15Honours subjects like English, Odia, Sanskrit, History, Economics, Pol. Sc. , Philosophy ,Home Sc, Education, Psychology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany and Zoology. Furthermore, it has already obtained permanent concurrence of the state Govt and permanently affiliated to Utkal University and Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha at Degree and Higher Secondary stage respectively. In 2004, the college was included under 2(f) & 12(B) of UGC and got NAAC accreditation (1st cycle) in 2008. From 2015, it has come to the jurisdiction of Ramadevi Womens’ University for +3 Arts/Science streams. The college provides accommodation to about 250 no. of boarders in its hostel inside the college campus.
To explore the leadership in social service and sprouting the spirit of nationalism, N.C.C , NSS ,Rangers & Rovers & Youth Red Cross units have been introduced as co-curricular activities .Albeit handicaps in certain fields, it is proud of its heritage and sincerest endeavour is always made to elevate the academic standard and to aid the spirituality of the students also .
